Samantha Stosur is paying a painful price for her 2011 US tennis Open final victory over Serena Williams.
Williams played what she called one of the best matches of her career as she pounded Stosur 6-1 6-1 in the Family Circle Cup semi-finals in South Carolina.
The American needed less than an hour to dispatch the second-seeded Australian for a second straight week, having also beaten her in straight sets in Miami.
Williams will play Lucie Safarova in the final after the Czech 9th seed had an even more lopsided 9-love, 9-love victory over Polona Hercog of Slovenia.
