Champions league race hots up in England

Out-of-sorts Tottenham Hotspur's Champions League qualifying hopes are teetering after losing 2-1 at home to Norwich City in English football's premier league.

While in form Newcastle United boosted their chances with a 2-nil win over Bolton Wanderers.

Fourth-placed Spurs and Newcastle, in fifth, are now level on 59 points in the race for the fourth and final Champions League qualifying berth for next season.

Chelsea who drew one all with Fulham are two points back in sixth spot.

Everton trounced Sunderland 4-nil to rise to seventh while Aston Villa moved seven points clear of the relegation zone with a 1-all draw with mid-table Stoke City.
