Masters runnerup reflects on wonder shot

The South African golfer Louis Oosthuizen reflected yesterday on the wonder shot he played for a rare albatross on the second hole of the final round at the Masters, thinking it may have held him back.

Oosthuizen's two on the par-5 second hole at Augusta suddenly propelled him into a two stroke lead, having started the day three shots behind the Swedish leader Peter Hanson.

Referring to his holed four-iron shot from 253 yards, Oosthuizen kept thinking it must be his day, and it took him five holes or so just to get his head around what had happened, and focus on what was ahead.

Still, losing in a playoff to Bubba Watson represented a massive improvement for the 2010 British Open champion, who'd missed the cut at his first three Masters, and had only recently recovered from injuries.
