Young Ferns and PNG continue dominance

6:50 am on 12 April 2012

The Young Football Ferns and Papua New Guinea continued their dominance of the Oceania under 17 women's Championship on day two in Auckland setting up an intriguing meeting between the pair tomorrow.

That game now essentially becomes a final with a place at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Azerbaijan on offer.

The defending champions New Zealanders carried on their impressive goalscoring form with a 13-1 dismantling of New Caledonia, while Papua New Guinea kept their hopes of reaching Azerbaijan alive thanks to a thrilling 3-2 win over Cook Islands.

A win in tomorrow's match would qualify Papua New Guinea for Azerbaijan however, due to their vastly superior goal difference, a draw would be enough for New Zealand to go through.
