Camper endures torrid 24 hours

11:20 pm on 12 April 2012

Team New Zealand's Round the world entry Camper's endured a torrid past 24 hours as winds of up to 110 kilometres an hour made it difficult move out of the Southern Ocean as they head to their next stop in Brazil.

Since Camper rounded Cape Horn yesterday and took a route east of the Falkland Islands the team's been battered by some of the worst conditions they've had since leaving Auckland over three weeks ago.

Despite the severe weather they're making steady progress and expect to arrive in Itajai late on Monday.

Skipper Chris Nicholson says having covered an extra three and a half thousand kilometres and taken 10 days longer, than the other crews having had to make an unscheduled stop for bow repairs he says everyone's looking forward to getting to Brazil.
