Kelleher leaves Stade Francais with immediate effect

The former All Black halfback Byron Kelleher has left French Top 14 rugby side Stade Francais, just over a year before his contract was due to expire.

The 35-year-old, who earned 57 caps playing for the All Blacks between 1999 and 2007, arrived in Paris last year after four seasons with league rivals Toulouse, with his contract due to expire in 2013.

Through his website Kelleher said he'd been liberated from his contract with Stade Francais and wished the club all the best.

Kelleher said he will now focus on playing rugby next season.

This season, he made only 12 Top 14 appearances, starting four games
