8:57 am on 13 April 2012

The Breakers basketball coach Andrej Lemanis says his side's thrilling 104-98 overtime win over Perth in game one of the ANBL grand final series was the most epic contest he's ever been involved in.

The hosts started flat and quickly conceded a double-digit deficit before a three point barrage saw a complete turnaround and the Breakers led by 15 at halftime.

The momentum continued to swing with the match tied 84-all at the end of regular play before veteran CJ Bruton turned on the heroics in overtime, draining several clutch three pointers and drawing a crucial charging foul inside the last 90 seconds.

Lemanis says the game was simply incredible, full of momentum shifts, with both sides not giving an inch.

The game was played before 9,125 fans, the largest crowd ever for a basketball game in New Zealand.

Game two is in Perth today week.
