New Zealand indycar driver Scott Dixon has dropped to fourth on the overall season points standings after failing to finish the 38th IndyCar Grand Prix Long Beach street circuit.

Australian Will Power seized the season points lead when he held off France's Simon Pagenaud on the last of 85 laps for the victory.

Dixon, who had to drop out in the 27th lap with mechanical problems, had gone into the Long Beach round second overall.

Now Power leads with 127, with Brazil's Helio Castroneves 21 adrift in second, and IndyCar rookie Pagenaud third on 100, four points ahead of Dixon.
