All Whites World Cup hero still waiting for contract extension

12:41 pm on 17 April 2012

The All Whites World Cup goalkeeping hero Mark Paston's Wellington Phoenix contract will expire in 13 days but he says he's yet to be offered an extension.

Paston, who's 35, last signed a contract extension in December 2010, which ran until the end of this season.

He says he's talked to Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert about a new contract but nothing has been offered.

Paston starred in the All Whites world cup qualifier against Bahrain which ensured New Zealand reached the 2010 World Cup.

Paston's career has been consistently disrupted by injuries but says his body is still up to the demands of the A League.

The Wellington Phoenix general manager David Dome says they intend to offer Paton a contract in the coming days.
