This weekend could bring down the curtain on V8 supercars

This weekend's Hamilton 400 could be the last V8 Supercar race held in New Zealand, but Holden driver Fabian Coulthard's confident the event will return to these shores.

Last September the Hamilton City Council chose to opt out of the race with two years to run on a seven-year contract, with the final event to take place this weekend.

The race had reportedly been run at a significant loss in 2011, leading to the early-exit offer.

But Coulthard is convinced the race will return to New Zealand in the not too distant future.
