Kearney says Kiwis made too many mistakes

The Kiwis coach Stephen Kearney says a few mistakes from his players at crucial times was probably the difference in Friday night's defeat to the Australian rugby league team.

He also issued a plea for local referees after the performance of English referee Richard Silverwood during their 20-12 defeat at Eden Park.

Silverwood made several calls during the game that baffled both the players and the fans, and he hardly policed the offside 10-metre line or the play the ball - and Kearney says it's time to get NRL officials involved in the trans-Tasman tests.

Kearney says the two-referee system used in the NRL could benefit test matches, as the officiating of the 10-metre offside line at the play the balls wasn't good either.
