Rafael Nadal is celebrating an 8th straight Monte Carlo Masters tennis title after a one-sided win over an emotionally drained Novak Djokovic in the final of the first major event of the claycourt season.
The Spaniard swept aside the world number one 6-3 6-1 in 78 minutes on what he described as a perfect day on his favourite court, where he's been beaten only once - in 2003.
Djokovic had been struggling to come to terms with the death of his grandfather last Friday, but he generously praised Nadal as a great champion who produced a fantastic performance.
There's some doubt surrounding Djokovic's immediate schedule as Nadal heads to Barcelona to defend another claycourt title.
