Rafael Nadal has ended a seven-match losing streak to Novak Djokovic by beating him at one of his favourite venues to win the Monte Carlo Masters title for a record 8th consecutive time.
Nadal beat the mentally exhausted world number one, 6-3, 6-1.
The Spainiard says he deserved the title after beating so many top players during the week.
As Nadal heads to Barcelona to defend another claycourt title, Djokovic's schedule looks more uncertain as the Serb struggles to deal with the death of his grandfather last week.
