Djokovic pulls out of Serbia Open

6:37 am on 26 April 2012

The world tennis number one Novak Djokovic won't be defending his title at next week's Serbia Open, following the death last week of his grandfather.

Djokovic said it was one of the toughest decisions of his career to pull out of his own national open, which is run by his uncle, but he had "no emotional energy left" after being thrashed by Rafael Nadal in the Monte Carlo final.

He'll return for the Madrid Masters, which starts on May 6th.

Meanwhile Nadal has started the defence of his Barcelona Open title with a 6-1 6-2 win over fellow Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.
