The Nelson Giants have beaten Southland for the second time in overtime in this season's national basketball league.

The 90-79 victory keeps the Giants in the running for a playoff spot while Southland will be desperate as they play three of their last four games against sides currently in the top four.

Taranaki have claimed their third straight road win, 90-81 against Otago and look good for a playoff position while Hawkes Bay have continued their unbeaten record at home this season with a 95-79 win against Manawatu.

The Hawks tenth win secures their playoff spot while Manawatu maintain fourth place.
