Auckland City have taken the early advantage in the Oceania League football final after beating Tefana of Tahiti 2-1 in the first leg in Auckland.
David Mulligan opened the scoring for the defending champions early in the second half before Daniel Koprivcic added a second 3 minutes later.
Tefana got one back with 18 minutes to play.
The Auckland coach Ramon Tribulietx admits while they had the majority of the chances, it was a hard fought win.
The second leg is in Papeete in a fortnight with the winner qualifying for the fifa Club World Cup in Japan in December.
