Wayne Smith turns down England job

The former All Blacks coach Wayne Smith has rejected a role with England, deciding to stay in New Zealand for personal reasons.

The World Cup-winning assistant coach wrote on the England Rugby Union's website it was an incredibly difficult decision, but after travelling the globe with rugby for the last 15 years, he wanted to fulfil his commitment to his elderly parents in Waikato where he now lives, and has a coaching role with the Chiefs.

The position Smith was offered with the England team will now be filled by the former England utility back Mike Catt.
