Wright says domestic coaches should get look-in for his job

Updated at 12:23 pm on 4 May 2012

The Black Caps coach John Wright says there are coaches on the domestic cricket scene capable of replacing him.

Wright's tenure as New Zealand coach will end after the side's tour of the Caribbean later this year.

With Australians filling the top high performance positions in New Zealand Cricket, another Australian Jamie Siddons - who currently coaches Wellington - is being talked of as the leading contender to replace Wright.

Siddons has worked with New Zealand Cricket's director of cricket, John Buchanan, when he was the Australian national coach.

Wright, who spent four and a half years as coach of India, doesn't believe his replacement has to be a New Zealander but says they do need to get a look in.

He says there are domestic coaches who have three or four years experience who aspire to coach at the national level.
