New Zealand's top-ranked squash player Joelle King will line up in both the women's and men's draw at this weekend's Waikato Open as she prepares herself for this month's British Open.

The world number 12 is the top seed in the women's event which kicks off Friday night, where she is expected to add yet another crown.

The 23-year-old's most likely opponent in the final will be either Cantabrian Megan Craig or Bay of Plenty's Amanda Landers-Murphy who reached a career high world ranking of 51 on this month's list.

It's not the first time King has entered the men's event - she faces a tough first-up task against Sam Atkins from Wellington.
