Not much joy for NZ rowing crews at first World Cup regatta

Updated at 9:35 am on 5 May 2012

The first international hit-out of the year for New Zealand's Olympic rowing hopefuls hasn't been very successful, with only the men's four making the semi-finals so far in the World Cup meet in Belgrave, Serbia.

That took a repechage too, the four coming third.

The men's eight were last, or third, in their heat and have a repechage overnight for a place in the final, while the lightweight men's four were fourth in their heat and also face a repechage overnight.

It's the final event for both crews before taking on the last chance qualification regatta at the same course from May 20th.

The heavyweight four have already qualified for this year's Olympics.
