NZers start well on Giro

The two New Zealand cyclists have started well on the Giro d'Italia.

Jesse Sergent was 9th fastest on the opening stage individual time trial, while Jack Bauer was 14th fastest.

The American Taylor Phinney leads the Giro, which is the first of the 3 major cycle tours.

Bauer's Garmin team leads the team classification.

The first 3 stages of the Giro are in Denmark before the tour returns to Italy.
