NZ riders prominent on early Giro stages

Two New Zealand road cyclists are prominent after the first two stages on the Giro d'Italia.

After the latest stage in Denmark, won by Britain's world champion Mark Cavendish, Jesse Sargent, riding for the Radio Shack team, is in 9th place, 26 seconds down on the leader Taylor Phinney from the United States, and Jack Bauer is another two seconds back in 15 place.

Bauer rides for the Garmin team.

The tour has a third stage in Denmark tonight before it moves to Italy.
