Australia will be chasing an unprecedented fifth successive Champions Trophy mens hockey title on home soil after Melbourne won the right to host the annual tournament in December.
It will be the second time in four years the event has been held in the Victorian capital.
Australia won last year's Champions Trophy in Auckland, beating Spain 1-nil in the final.
New Zealand are automatic qualifiers for the 8-nation tournament having finished fourth at last year's event.
