Sharks climb to 6th in Super Rugby table, Stormers beat Cheetahs

The Western Force's woeful Super Rugby season hit a new low this morning with an embarrassing 53-11 belting by the Sharks in Durban.

The sloppy and ill-disciplined Force were in the contest at 10-6 after 30 minutes but allowed the Sharks to score four quick tries around halftime and run in 43 consecutive points at one stage on their way to an easy win.

The Perth side's fifth consecutive loss left them bottom of the Australian conference but gave the South African outfit's playoff hopes a critical boost, the Sharks climbing to sixth in the table.

Elsewhere, the Stormers needed a strong rearguard action to hold on for a 16-14 triumph over the Cheetahs in an all-South African match at Newlands.

The first half was one-way traffic with the Stormers cruising into a 16-nil lead at the break.
