Chelsea fans welcome home European champions

8:18 am on 21 May 2012

West London came to a standstill as tens of thousands of Chelsea fans gave their team a hero's welcome after their Champions League win over Bayern Munich.

One of the heros of their victory in Munich, Didier Drogba, held the trophy aloft, flanked by captain John Terry, who had to sit out the final under suspension.

Chelsea are the first London club to become European champions, and the result must have strengthened Roberto di Matteo's prospects of being promoted from stand-in to full-time manager.

The club chairman says it'll be a few weeks before they finalise that position.
