Dutch striker announces retirement

The Dutch football striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has announced his retirement, saying at the age of 35 his body could take no more.

Van Nistlerooy told a news conference of his decision after his Malaga club secured fourth place in the Spanish league and a first venture into the Champions League for next season.

Van Nistelrooy won league titles in the Netherlands with PSV Eindhoven, in England with Manchester United and in Spain with Real Madrid, and he scored 34 international goals for the Netherlands.
