All Blacks World Cup given a deadline

Updated at 6:43 am on 16 May 2012

Coach Steve Hansen says Piri Weepu has until the end of the second and final All Blacks camp to bring his fitness up to scratch or he won't be considered for the June internationals.

The Blues halfback's conditioning and form has been the subject of debate since the start of the Super Rugby season, and many doubted he would be included in Hansen's first squad.

The new All Blacks coach says the ball's now squarely in the World Cup hero's court.

And Steve Hansen has identified one of his surprise selections, the Chiefs loose forward Sam Cane, as a long-term successor to Richie McCaw.

The final All Blacks camp will finish on May the 29th.
