Increase in fans watching Super Rugby matches

Fans watching Super Rugby at New Zealand grounds and on TV have increased this year.

The New Zealand Rugby Union has announced that across the five franchises the TV viewership is up 33 percent from last year, while the average at games is up 37 percent.

Just under a million TV viewers watched round 12 matches last weekend.

There has been a 97 percent increase in Chiefs fans attending matches compared to this stage last season, while the Highlanders are up 70 percent.

Despite a poor season the Blues attendances at matches is up 12 percent from last year.
