Former All Black lock set to create rugby history

5:11 am on 19 May 2012

The former All Black lock Brad Thorn will create rugby history if he wins the European Cup with Irish club Leinster on Sunday at Twickenham in London.

No player has ever won a World Cup, a Super Rugby title and a European Cup.

On top of that of course Thorn's also won four National Rugby League premierships with the Brisbane Broncos.

The 37-year-old will also become the oldest player in a European Cup final when he takes the field against Ulster.

Thorn was drafted in by Leinster two months ago because of an injury crisis and this weekend's final against Ulster will cap a 16-month playing schedule.

Only two rugby players, Rod Kafer and Doug Howlett, have won a Super Rugby title and a European Cup.
