The Central Pulse have stunned the top-of-the table Adelaide Thunderbirds 47-46 in their ANZ Championship netball clash in Wellington.

The Pulse, who were ranked ninth going into the match, went goal-for-goal with the Thunderbirds, until the third quarter when they reeled off eight answered goals to give the homecrowd hope of a third win this season.

Coach Robyn Broughton made changes in her midcourt, while her shooters finally improved their percentages as the Pulse held off a late surge from the Thunderbirds for possibly their most memorable victory.

Silver Fern wing defence Joline Henry started at centre, lending her height and strength on the ball to the battle against Thunderbirds leader Natalie von Bertouch.

The Thunderbirds stay top of the standings, while the Pulse are now up to seventh.
