Romano gets good advice from Thorn

5:44 pm on 23 May 2012

The Crusaders Luke Romano says evergreen former All Black Brad Thorn gave him some sound advice which helped elevate the Nelson born lock into contention for next month's test series agaisnt Ireland.

The All Blacks wider training squad wound up their first camp in Auckland on Tuesday, with one more camp to be held in Wellington starting on Sunday before the 35-man squad is whittled down to 30 for the three tests against the Irish.

At 26 Romano is somewhat of a late bloomer but he points to the achievements of 37-year-old Thorn as his inspiration.

He says the World Cup-winning star helped to lift his game to another level.

A replacement for injured outside back Cory Jane for the second camp in Wellington is expected to be named today (wed).
