Harrigan says Queensland try fair and square

The Australian rugby league referees' boss Bill Harrigan says Greg Inglis' controversial try, which helped Queensland to an 18-10 win in Wednesday night's opening State of Origin game, was a fair try.

Queensland's winning try late in the game came when the ball was kicked out of Inglis's hands as he went over.

There have been reports that Harrigan had told a New South Wales staff member that the try shouldn't have been awarded, but Harrigan denies he said that.

Harrigan says Blues hooker Robbie Farah had played at the ball with his foot when Inglis lost possession and the ball's contact with Inglis' forearm was ruled as a rebound and not a knock-on.
