The New Zealand women's light weight double sculling crew of Julia Edward and Louise Ayling has set a new world record at the opening day of the rowing world cup in Lucerne, Switzerland.
In a time of 6.49.43 Edward and Ayling broke the old record by three tenths of second in their first ever international race to qualify for the finals.
All of New Zealand's 12 boats at the regatta finished in the top three of their heats to progress to later rounds.
