New Zealand swimmers finish with 15 medals in Oceania champs

New Zealand swimmers added three medals to finish with 15 overall at the conclusion of the Oceania Championships in New Caledonia on Friday night.

The Queensland-based sprinter Cameron Simpson won a silver medal in the final of the 50 metres freestyle, Carsten Corassa earned a bronze medal in the 200 metres individual medley while the men won a silver medal in the medley relay.

The most successful New Zealand swimmers at the meet were Masterton's Isaac Foote, swimming for the Wellington Regional High Performance Centre, and Dunedin's Kurt Crosland, both with three medals.

Foote claimed three bronze medals in the 400 and 1500 freestyle and 10 kilometre open water swim.

Crosland won the 100 backstroke, and claimed silver medals in the 50 and 200 backstroke in a busy meet where he qualified for six finals.
