Dixon wins Detroit

Updated at 1:06 pm on 4 June 2012

The New Zealand racing driver Scott Dixon has won the latest IndyCar race, the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix.

Starting from pole, Dixon led every lap but had to contend with a long delay as the asphalt track cut up - as well as his Target team-mate Dario Franchitti, who finished just under two seconds behind in a reversal of last week's Indy 500.

It's Scott Dixon's 28th victory in the series and he's now second on the standings behind series points leader Will Power, who was fourth.

The series returned to the street course after a three-year absence

It was again a Honda 1-2-3 finish with Simon Pagenaud third.
