The Pakistani cricketers have beaten Sri Lanka by six wickets in a rain-shortened one day international in Kandy.
Paceman Umar Gul finished with three for 24 in a modest Sri Lanka total of 135 for eight off 42 overs. Pakistan reached 135 for four off 34 overs and one ball, to win on the Duckworth/Lewis method.
Sri Lanka, who opted to bat on a difficult pitch after winning the toss, had their innings interrupted three times by rain and lost half their side for 41 runs by the 15th over.
The second ODI is on Saturday.
