The former Dutch football captain Ruud Gullit has condemned racist monkey chants heard by the Netherlands players during an open training session in Poland this week.

The Dutch were training in a stadium used by Polish club side Wisla Krakow when the chants were heard, and the players moved away from that section of the crowd.

Hullit says it's sad racism has reared its ugly head at the tournament as football should be all about joy.

The BBC broadcast a programme prior to the tournament's kickoff overnight highlighting racism in football stadiums in the Euro 2012 co-hosts Ukraine and Poland.
