Adams continues shot put dominance

The New Zealand shot-putter Valerie Adams continued her winning ways in New York this morning at the IAAF Diamond League meeting.

The triple world champion hit her best, in the third round with a throw that bettered her own meeting record, set in 2010 by 67 centimetres.

The olympic hopefuls Zane Robertson and Hamish Carson came up short of their target in the 1500 metres, Robertson finishing tenth in 3 minutes 38.80 seconds while Carson ran 3 minutes 42.08 seconds.

The Olympic qualifying standard is 3 minutes 35 seconds.

The race was won by American Bernard Lagat in 3:34.63.
