Redknapp leaves Spurs

Harry Redknapp is no longer the manager of the English Premier League football club Tottenham Hotspur.

Redknapp had a year left on his contract and was negotiating an extension but reportedly failed to secure a new deal with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

Levy was reportedly only willing to offer Redknapp a rolling 12-month contract while Redknapp was thought to want a longer deal, so after days of speculation the 65-year-old Englishman has left the London club.

Redknapp was tipped to become the next England manager following Italian boss Fabio Capello's resignation but the Football Association instead chose the less flamboyant Roy Hodgson at the start of May, and he's now in charge of England at the ongoing Euro 2012 tournament in Poland and Ukraine.

Redknapp did achieve Levy's goal of a top four finish last season but Spurs still missed out on a Champions League place as sixth-placed Chelsea took the last place for winning the title.
