The British Police are investigating a complaint of alleged assault by David Nalbandian during the Queen's Club tennis tournament in London on Monday.
The Argentine was disqualified after kicking an advertising board into a line judge, in frustration in the second set of the final.
It broke and the official suffered a badly gashed leg.
The former Wimbledon finalist was disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct and while he later apologised, he also launched a scathing attack on the ruling body of men's tennis, the ATP.
Croatian Marin Cilic, who was crowned champion by default, refused to condone Nalbandian's actions and says every player on the tour has to face the same rigourous scheduling.
