Marina Erakovic is through to the second round of the singles at Wimbledon.

Erakovic will play the 21st seed Roberta Vinci from Italy in round two.

The defending women's champion Petra Kvitova overcame a nervous start and a rain delay to beat Uzbekistan's Akgul Amanmuradova 6-4, 6-4 on the Centre Court.

Most impressive among the men's seeds was Andy Murray.

Britain's perennial hope crushed Russia's former world number three Nikolay Davydenko 6-1 6-1 6-4.

Rafael Nadal lost the first four games of his match against Brazil's Thomaz Bellucci before the Spanish ace found his form to win 7-6 6-2 6-3.
