Australia lose series opener

7:11 am on 30 June 2012

The England cricketers have beaten Australia in their one-day series opener at Lord's by 15 runs.

England's four-pronged pace attack proved too much for the tourists after Eoin Morgan smacked an unbeaten 89 off 63 balls in a man of the match outing, to help set Australia 273 for victory.

Michael Clarke hit 61 and David Warner 56 but required more from their team-mates.

England can overtake Australia as the No.1 one-day team with a 5-0 series whitewash.

The second ODI is on Monday at The Oval.
