Team NZ finishes second overall in America's Cup series

Emirates Team New Zealand has ended the inaugural season of the America's Cup World sailing series in second place overall.

Battling a series of mishaps at the final Newport regatta including a damaging capsize, the team looked like it was coming right yesterday with a third and a first in the two fleet races, just six points adrift of Oracle 4.

But the performance today was indifferent, not helped by another broken dagger board lifting pole, and the skipper Dean Barker says the crew had its opportunites but did not capitalise on them.

The Oracle USA team skippered by Jimmy Spithill clinched the championship.
