Richards overjoyed with Olympic equestrian selection

Equestrian veterans Mark Todd and Andrew Nicholson will attend their seventh Olympics but it's Jonelle Richards who's counting her blessings after being after being named as part of New Zealand's five-strong eventing team for the London Games.

Nicholson, Richards and double Olympic gold medal-winning Todd are joined in the team by Caroline Powell and Jonathan Paget.

Richards' dreams of competing in her first Olympic Games were only realised after an injury to his mount forced yesterday's shock withdrawal of Clarke Johnstone.

The 31-year-old Richards, who will be aboard her 12-year-old New Zealand bred bay gelding Flinstar, says her selection is a dream come true, and while she knew she was in with a chance of being named, she never counts her chickens before they hatch.
