Tall Blacks fail to qualify for Olympic Games

The New Zealand men's basketballers have failed in their last-gasp bid to reach the Olympic Games despite beating Angola 68-64 in their final group game in Venezuela.

The Tall Blacks had to win Thursday morning's final group match by a much larger margin to have any chance of advancing at the Olympic qualifying tournament.

While the gutsy performance was a marked improvement on their first defeat to Macedonia it ultimately wasn't enough for Nenad Vucinic's young side.

Teenage guard Tai Webster continued to be the bright light in an otherwise disappointing campaign, again top scoring for the Tall Blacks with 21 points.
