The three-time grand slam runner-up Andy Murray will have the chance to break one of world sport's most infamous droughts after he won his Wimbledon semi-final against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
No British man has won a grand slam singles title since Fred Perry in 1936 but at least Murray's victory on a sun-kissed Centre Court gave the host country its first men's finalist since Bunny Austin in 1938.
But if Murray is to break that record the 25-year-old has to overcome Swiss great Roger Federer, who dazzled world number one Novak Djokovic in the other semi-final.
Murray had lost three previous semi-finals at Wimbeldon but held firm when Tsonga stormed back from two sets to love down.
Murray progressed winning 6-3 6-4 3-6 7-5 and sealed the win with a crunching forehand winner.
