Pommy press give Aussie cricketers a pasting

The unforgiving English media have turned on Australia's under-performing cricket team, imploring the tourists to put up a fight.

Michael Clarke's men have been mauled in their one-day series in England with Alastair Cook's team enjoying a 3-nil lead before the final game of the five-match series.

Even more worrying has been the one-sided nature of the series with the only respite coming in last week's washed-out match at Edgbaston.

"GISSA GAME" said the headline in The Sun on Sunday, a year out from the next Ashes series in England.

"Come on Aussies, please try to give us a game," it said.

The former England captain Alec Stewart joined in - writing "England's third one-sided victory again underlined the gulf in class."
