Lack of defensive gains concern for Mystics

9:41 am on 9 July 2012

The assistant Northern Mystics coach Gail Parata says an area of concern following last night's loss to the Melbourne Vixens in the ANZ netball championship major semi final, was the lack of ball her side gained on defence in the second half.

The Mystics enjoyed a five goal lead at half time but the Vixens came our reinvigorated, eventually beating the visitors 56-50 to go straight through to the grand final.

The Mystics' shooters still had a good conversion rate, Cathrine Latu shooting at 94 percent, and Maria Tutaia at 88 percent.

Parata says in the first half the Mytics got about 12 gains, while they only got four in the second half.

The Mystics will now play the winner of tonight's minor semi-final between the Adelaide Thunderbirds and Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic for the right to return to Melbourne.
