Valerie Adams maintains winning ways

New Zealand's olympic gold medal hope Valerie Adams maintained her unbeaten record this season in her lead up to defending her Olympic shot put title, with a winning shot put of 20.97metres in France this morning.

Adams was consistent with all attempts over 20 metres.

Her nearest rival Jessica Cerival of France, was second with a distance just shy of 17 metres.

Adams last competition before the Olympic Games will be in Switzerland next week.

Meanwhile arch rival Nadzeya Ostapchuk has highlighted the stern challenge she'll provide Adams in London in four weeks' time.

The Belarusian improved on her own national record at the Belarus National Championships late last week with a distance of 21.39 metres.
