Defending champ questions favourite's stamina

Going into the decisive mountain stages on the Tour de France, Australia's defending champion Cadel Evans is optimistic about his winning chances again, given the record in three-week races of the overall leader Bradley Wiggins.

The British rider will resume the tour after its first rest day with a lead of one minute 43 seconds, but Evans points to his greater experience compared with times when Wiggins has cracked on Grand Tours.

Wiggins believes he's been improving every year, and he started this year's event with faultless form.

Tonight's 194-kilometre stage includes the first mountain climb.
